Barangay officials and driver in Tabuk charged over shabu possession


Tabuk City, Kalinga – Two barangay officials and a driver in Tabuk City are facing drug violations after the discovery of suspected shabu from their place on Wednesday, according to Tabuk City police.


After securing a search warrant, police operatives in Tabuk and other units in Kalinga proceeded to the suspects’ residence in Purok 2, Bulanao Norte around 12:14 p.m on August 16, 2023.

The warrant issued by Presiding Judge Jerson Angog on August 15 allowed the authorities to search the house of Barangay Treasurer Sharon Espita, 47, Barangay Secretary Annabelle Omawas, 50, and Greg Espita, 43, driver.


The operation resulted in the discovery of two sachets containing a substance believed to be shabu. The suspected contraband has an estimated weight of 4 grams worth P27,200.


Other items seized include aluminum foil and lighters.


With these pieces of evidence, the three suspects were brought to the custody of Tabuk City Police Station and were charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 or the "Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002".
