Bayao, Pinukpuk youth join anti-terrorism and illegal drugs advocacy

Pinukpuk, Kalinga – The youngsters of Bayao, Pinukpuk were recently organized as advocates for anti-terrorism and illegal drugs this November 6 with the launching of Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terorismo (KKDAT) in their barangay.

Bayao Sanguniang Kabataan Chairman and now the KKDAT President, Christian Malnawa, told Guru Press that the launching was made in partnership with the Philippine National Police (PNP) Pinukpuk to empower the youth sector as partners of the government in implementing programs and advocacies against insurgency and illegal drugs.

Malnawa said that prior to the organization, they have undergone lectures on terrorism and illegal drugs delivered by the PNP Pinukpuk team led by Police Lieutenant Alfredo Fa-ed.

Apart from lectures, the youth in Bayao also planted trees at the premises of Bayao Elementary School as a way to promote environmental protection and preservation.

The activity culminated with the organization of KKDAT in Bayao, highlighted by the members and officers taking their oath.

Malnawa expressed gratitude to PNP Pinukpuk for their contribution in making the event successful, assuring them that the Sangguniang Kabataan and the newly formed advocacy group in Bayao are one with the government’s campaign against insurgency and illegal drugs.

The SK Chairman also encouraged his fellow youth in Bayao to adhere to the call of nation-building. “This activity was really designed for us. We hope that you have instilled in your minds that the youth, as the hope of the nation, should serve as instruments and models in the attainment of peace and order in our community,” he said.
