Tabuk City, Kalinga - “A government position is more than just a job; it is a mandate to serve with honesty and accountability,” Board Member Emilio Kitongan reminded all government employees in Kalinga to serve with honesty and integrity.

The board member made the statement during the official kick off of the Philippine Civil Service Anniversary (PCSA) Inter-Agency Sportsfest this August 18, 2025, with an opening program at the Kalinga Sports Center.

In an interview with Guru Press Cordillera, Kitongan underscored that while the event highlights sportsmanship and camaraderie, the employees must not lose sight of their greater responsibility to live up to the oath they took as public servants.

“Masapol nga kitaan da ti obligasyon da as a government employee. Masapol nga panunuten da latta diay work ethics da as a government employee. Be honest, masapol nga suruten da latta ti mandato da, nu anya ti sinapataan da nga trabaho da. Aramiden tayo latta koma ti trabaho tayo uray awan makakitkita,” said Kitogan.

Including himself in his advice, not just the employees, Kitongan said that although no one is perfect, it should not be an excuse to neglect one’s duties or to compromise integrity.

The provincial legislator stressed that government service demands sincerity and that honesty means doing the right thing even when nobody is watching.

“Honest nga panagserbi iti trabaho. Masapol nga didjay ti aramiden da uray awan makakitkita. Although ammo tayo met nga awan ti perpekto ngem at least uray kaskasanu, masapol nga aramiden tayo diay in take oath da nga empleyado. This advice is for every government employee, which means including myself,” he added.

Taking place until September 30, featuring various games and activities, the province’s version of the 125th PCSA event is a tribute to the enduring role of the Philippine Civil Service in nation-building while reminding government employees to uphold integrity, excellence, and genuine service to people.
