Body of teenager drowned in Pinukpuk this weekend found in Cagayan

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The body of a teenager who was reportedly drowned afternoon of November 22 in Pinukpuk was found along the Chico River in Barangay Mungo, Tuao, Cagayan this November 25.


According to PNP Kalinga Pinukpuk, the victim is a 16-year-old and a grade 10 student.


It could be recalled that the teenager on Sunday was supposed to cross the Chico River in Sitio Cabaritan, Katabbogan and was already halfway when he decided to go back since the current was too strong. Unfortunately, the boy was swept by the current and drowned, according to witnesses.


The search and rescue teams who looked for the body for three days were composed of the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office Pinukpuk, MDRRMO Tuao, Task Force Lingkod Cagayan, Barangay Officials of Katabbogan and Barangay officials of Mungo, Tuao Cagayan and the community.


Meanwhile, the same case happened in Bontoc on November 22 as an 11-year-old boy was drowned in Kadchog. The body was found on November 24 floating in the river at Sitio Alawey, Tocucan, Bontoc after three days of search and rescue operation.


The remains of the boy was laid to rest before daybreak today, November 25.
