Bontoc fisherfolks get P455K cash, food assistance from DA

Bontoc, Mountain Province – As the Cash and Food Subsidy for Marginal Farmers and Fisherfolk (CFSMFF) program continues to be implemented in the region, 91 fisherfolk in this town received today, April 19, 2021, cash assistance amounting to P273, 000.00.


The Bontoc Information Office reports that each beneficiary received P3, 000 cash assistance with P2, 000 worth of food packs containing half-cavan of rice, two trays of eggs, and three kilograms of chicken.



As recalled, DA Cordillera allotted a total fund of P137,395,000 for the implementation of said program to benefit 9,839 corn farmers, 380 sugarcane growers, 14,997 fishers, and 2,263 Indigenous Peoples in the region.


Administrative Officer IV Ross Kiat-ong of the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist (OMAg) said the program aims to assist marginalized farmers affected with the Covid-19 pandemic crisis.


The beneficiaries, she said, were identified by the DA-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources based on the Fisherfolk Registry System.


DA-BFAR Regional Office had authorized the personnel of the OMAg to distribute the assistance to the fisherfolk- beneficiaries.



Fifty farmers in the municipality, he disclosed, are also included in the last batch to receive same assistance.


Qualified for the program are farmers or fisherfolk registered under the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) or Fisherfolk Registry System. They must not be part of the special amelioration program or SAP from other agencies like DSWD, DOLE, and DAR based on the government’s data base system; and must be a residing in 4th to 6th class municipalities.
