Tabuk City, Kalinga – “Ang buhay at panulat ni Rizal ay hindi lamang nararapat aralin sa loob ng paaralan at pamantasan, datapwat ito ay dapat isabuhay ng bawat Pilipino,” this was emphasized by Congressman Allen Jesse Mangaoang during the 125th commemoration of the martyrdom of Dr. Jose Rizal this December 31.

Mangaoang, represented by Regie Wacas, pointed that even it has been 125 years since Rizal’s death, his views and values are still applicable to the present.

He cited that while Rizal’s ideals are yet to be fully executed, it is but proper that the Filipinos work together towards peace and progress. Through this, he said, we will become the real pillars of our motherland like Rizal.

Mangaoang added that heroism is already in the blood of every Filipino and that the country will never run out of people who are like him, ready to serve in the name of the nation.

“Marahil sa mismong sandaling ito may isang lider na pupulot ng panulat habang iniisip na, ‘kaya kong magdala ng pagbabago.’ May isang mag-aaral na magsasabing, ‘hindi ako susuko’. May isang guimpong na haharap at sasabihing, ‘maaari akong madapa ngunit muli’t muli babangon ako, magtiya-tiyaga ako, mangangarap ako, at matutupad ito’,” he conveyed.

Meanwhile, the congressman asserted that the national hero will never become an obsolete figure, saying his relevance can be seen in how his writings still make sense even they are over a century old.

“On this 125th commemoration of his martyrdom, what we ought to do is to look not only at the life of Rizal but at the values he held and lived by,” he expressed.

Dr. Jose Rizal was executed by the Spanish colonial government on December 30, 1896, at the Bagumbayan Field in Manila for the crime of rebellion.
