Businessman just went out for coffee, got involved in road mishap that killed couple


San Mateo, Isabela – A businessman who just wanted to have coffee at dawn was involved in a road accident that killed two individuals in Isabela.


The suspect, Rogelio Gamiao, 29, was about to go to the town of Ramon early morning of Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2023, just to have coffee.

While heading to the said town on board his vehicle, he overtook an Innova car he was following, causing him to hit the couple riding a motorcycle.


The couple were identified as Sharon Bombarda, a 25-year-old teacher and a resident of Barangay Sinamar Norte; and his boyfriend Jefferson Beltijar, 27, a bank employee and a resident of Dinapigue, Isabela.


Due to the incident, the two victims sustained severe injuries in various parts of their bodies.


Responding authorities rushed them to a hospital in the city but they were declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.


In an investigation made by the police, it was found that Gamiao was under the influence of alcoholic drinks when he drove his car.


The suspect was brought to the prosecutor's office and will be facing charges for Reckless Imprudence Resulting in Double Homicide and Damage to Property.
