‘Carrotman’ Jeyrick Sigmaton gets another International Best Actor Award

Baguio City, Philippines - After recently winning the “Best Actor Award” at the 2021 International Film Festival Manhattan (IFMM), Jeyrick Sigmaton known as “The Carrotman of the Philippines” was hailed as the International Best Indie Actor of the Year.

Dangal ng Lahi Awards 2021 made the recognition to the Igorot Actor during the ceremonial awarding held at Okada Manila Hotel, Parañaque City last Saturday, November 27, 2021.

Sigmatton played the lead role under the character of Bantay in ‘Dayas,’ a short film produced by the Baguio-based Sine Cordillera and Be Unrivaled which features the ‘delicate balance between the challenges of the changing times and the continuation of culture, beliefs and traditions of the people in the region.’

Accordingly, the film directed by Jennylyn Delos Santos (Jianlin), is a tribute to the victims and the bereaved families of Typhoon ‘Ompong.’ The filming was finished in February and had been supported by Cordilleran people when presented publicly.

Aside from the title received by “The Carrotman,” International Best Screenwriter and Director of the Year 2021 was also conferred to Director Jianlin while the film’s Director of Photography, Pete Mariano, was recognized as the International Best Cinematographer and Director of the Year.

Director Jianlin, in his post, stated that “these awards were a testament to the genuineness and authenticity of what we have showcased through Dayas.”

The crew extended their gratitude “to the juries of Dangal ng Lahi Awards for recognizing the passion and souls of Our Cordilleran Talents as presented in Dayas.”

This, the director said, drives them to create more projects like Dayas and stay true to their commitment and advocacy of promoting the region, its arts, and culture, and providing a platform for the Cordilleran talents to thrive.

According to the director, this is also another validation for them, and it proved that Cordilleran talents and narratives are worth telling.

“We offer this award to everyone who poured their hearts, effort, time, and resources into conceiving this passion project of ours, from the Sine Cordillera and Be unrivaled Productions staff to our talented actors and actresses and our supportive kakailyan and partners. Pangabak tayo daytoy ta bagi tayo daytoy. Agyaman kami,” exclaimed Director Jianlin.
