“Children are the building blocks of a strong nation’- Balbalan Mayor

Balbalan, Kalinga – In celebration of the Children’s Month this year, Balbalan Mayor Almar Malannag, highlighted the importance of children in the family and the society as he relates them as building blocks that create a strong nation.

In his message, during the culminating activity of children’s month at Balbalan Sports Center on November 24, the mayor described the children as ‘small but have the capability to change the nation positively.’

Malannag elaborated on the motto of the national hero Dr. Jose Rizal, ‘Ang mga Kabataan ay Pag-asa ng ating Bayan,’ saying the children of today are the future of tomorrow, which means the development of the country lies in their hands.

“They are the responsible citizens of tomorrow, as the development of the country lies in their hands. Children are leaders of tomorrow, so they need to be respected and receive special care and protection. This celebration reminds us about the importance of children in the family, society, and our country,” said the mayor.

As the Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit Awardee (CFLGA) in 2021, Malannag assured that Balbalan LGU will continue to promote the rights of children in all aspects, as embodied in Ordinance No. 2021-09.

The ordinance is enacting the Balbalan Code of Parental Responsibility for the Protection of Children’s Rights.
