Baguio City, Philippines – Cordilleran archer Chass Mhaiven Colas brought pride to the region after winning two gold medals and breaking his own Palarong Pambansa record in boys’ archery on May 27, 2026, in Agusan del Sur.

The 66th Palarong Pambansa, regarded as the country’s premier grassroots sporting event for student-athletes, gathered 13,247 delegates, including 10,718 athletes from 18 regional athletic associations competing for national honors.

The Cordillera Administrative Region sent 835 delegates to this year’s national meet, carrying the hopes of the region across various sporting disciplines.

Among them, Colas emerged as one of the standout performers after dominating the boys’ 50-meter archery event. The University of Baguio high school student fired a record-breaking score of 331 points, surpassing his previous Palarong Pambansa record of 328 points, which he set during last year’s competition in Ilocos Norte.

Colas further showcased his marksmanship by capturing another gold medal in the boys’ 40-meter event, cementing his status as one of the tournament’s top archers.

His latest feat adds to an already impressive year. Earlier, at the 2026 National PRISAA Games in Bacolod City, Colas swept seven gold medals in multiple events, including the men’s 30-meter, 50-meter, 60-meter, and 70-meter distance categories, the 1440 FITA, Olympic Round, and Mixed Team event alongside fellow Cordilleran archer Emy Angela Peredo.

Meanwhile, Bicol Region’s Jov Jesther Palo secured the silver medal with 324 points, while Rapha Eliel Velasquez of Western Visayas claimed the bronze medal with 320 points in the boys’ 50-meter event.

With another record-breaking performance on the national stage, Colas continues to establish himself as one of the brightest young athletes from the Cordillera and a rising force in Philippine archery.
