Cordilleran police killed in firefight with NPA in Northern Samar

Bontoc, Mt. Province – A police officer from Bontoc, Mountain Province was killed during an armed encounter with members of a communist terrorist group in Barangay Look, Lapinig, Northern Samar.


Police Lieutenant Kenneth Tad-awan got shot while he and his men were conducting a preventive patrol at the said place around 6:40 in the morning this February 7, 2022.

Initial report disclosed that while patrolling, an armed encounter ensued between the uniformed personnel and undetermined number of rebels.


The Police Regional Office 8 headed by Police Brigadier General Bernard Banac have expressed their grief over the demise of Tad-awan who sacrificed his life in the name of service.


“Ibinuwis niya ang kanyang buhay sa gitna ng kanyang pagtatanggol sa kapayapaan para sa bayan na pilit na inaagaw ng mga teroristang grupo,” they wrote.

They added that the Philippine National Police will not stop in seeking justice for Tad-awan and to all the victims of CTG.


“Hinding-hindi kailanman titigil ang Philippine National Police sa paghahanap ng hustisya para kay PLT TAD-AWAN at sa lahat ng mga biktima ng mga rebeldeng grupo,” they said.
