Entrepreneurs in Cordillera join National Cacao Congress and Exhibition 2022

Baguio City, Philippines – Cacao entrepreneurs from Cordillera joined the National Cacao Congress and Exhibition 2022 at SMX Convention Center, SM Lanang Premier in Davao City held on November 24-25.

Said activity was organized by the Philippine Cacao Industry Association, Inc. (PCIA, Inc.), in partnership with the Philippine Cacao Industry Council (PCIC), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Trade & Industry (DTI), and Department of Agriculture (DA).


It aims to reformulate plans and strategies to help and guide cacao stakeholders to meet the changes and new challenges to improve their production.


With the theme ‘Cacao is Gold’, the activity brought together 1,800 participants and 70 exhibitors from all over the country to participate in the biggest cacao event in the Philippines.


Among the participants from Cordillera are the cacao entrepreneurs from Baguio City and Benguet province who are involved in cacao businesses such as cocoa producers, cacao and chocolate processors. The DTI of Baguio-Benguet likewise participated in the event.

The two-day conference covered the showcasing of chocolate and cacao products from all regions and provinces in the country. The international cacao traders, chocolate processors, and experts shared about the global and domestic cacao market situations and ways to improve and achieve the required profitability and sustainability of the cacao industry.


Further, the event will recognize the Top 6 farmers producing the Best Cacao Beans in the country through Philippine Cacao Quality Awards (PCQA) 2022.


As recalled, Filipino cacao farmers were conferred as the best cacao beans producers for the last three consecutive international Cocoa awards.
