Ex-Mayor in Abra gunned down while sitting outside his house

Bangued, Abra – A former mayor in Abra province was sitting at the kiosk in front of his house in Dangdangla, Bangued when he was gunned down by yet to be identified men this morning.

The victim was identified as Jendricks Seares Luna, 54, and a former mayor of Lagayan, Abra. He ran for board member in the May 2025 elections but lost the race. 

According to the initial investigation of the police, as cited by a local media, Luna was sitting at the kiosk in front of their house past 8:00 a.m. this June 3 when four men on board two motorcycles arrived and alighted at his location.

The four unidentified suspects allegedly attacked the 54-year-old, shooting him multiple times before riding their motorcycles to escape the crime scene.

Relatives rushed Luna to the Seares Memorial Hospital, but he was not able to survive the gunshot wounds. He was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Police operatives have already been alerted for a dragnet operation to capture the perpetrators.
