Piat, Cagayan – A family affected by a devastating fire that transpired Sunday, March 17, in Piat, Cagayan is now seeking assistance.

The fire burned their home and turned into ashes all they had inside. Luckily, no one was home when the incident happened, saving their lives.

One of the daughters of the Villanueva family, Donalyn took to social media their plea for aid as they face the daunting task of rebuilding their lives from nothing.

“Good afternoon, everyone. Kakapalan ko na po ang mukha ko, hihingi sana ako ng kaunting tulong sa inyo dahil nasunugan kami at wala ni isa ang naisalba. Any amount will do, malaking tulong na po iyon sa amin,” she wrote on a Facebook post.

For those who are willing to extend a helping hand to the Villanueva family, contributions can be made via GCash at 0966-804-258.

What happened?

In an initial investigation made by the Bureau of Fire Protection- Piat, a pot of boiling water in the kitchen was pointed out as the likely origin of the blaze.

While swift aid was made by the brave responders of BFP Piat, led by SFO4 Julious Diego, the rapid spread of flames was not controlled as the house was made out of lightweight construction materials.

According to a relative, nobody was hurt during the incident since the mother went to church, while her husband headed out to look for food.

Their children were also out of the house as they went to their aunt’s residence, saving them from the fire.

For now, the Villanueva family are staying at a temporary shelter.
