Farmer shot dead in a game of pool in Bangued, Abra

Bangued, Abra – While playing pool, a 36-year-old farmer was gunned down by one of his playmates around 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, in Sagap, Bangued, Abra.


The incident was reported to the police who promptly responded to the crime 30 minutes later, particularly at the Galera Residence.


According to the Bangued police, citing witnesses’ narrative, the victim named as Ronald Dumalen, married and a resident of said area, was playing pool with 4 other individuals, including the suspect when the killing transpired.


For an unknown reason, the suspect identified as Isidro Bawit, of legal age, married and a resident in the same area, suddenly shot the victim several times.


After committing the crime, he immediately fled the scene and now the subject of a hot pursuit operation. Coordination was also made to adjacent police stations to hasten the arrest of the suspect.


While the number of gunshot wounds sustained by the victim was not disclosed, 10 spent shells and 2 bullets were found at the incident scene by the members of the scene of crime operations (SOCO).


The victim was rushed to the Abra Provincial Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.


As of this writing, an investigation continues to unravel the motive of the crime.
