Farmers in Tabuk benefit from DA-SAAD Kalinga ‘coffee production programs’


Tabuk City, Kalinga – Farmers in Tabuk City, particularly, the members of Nambucayan Matagoan Farmers Association (NamFA) reported success of their coffee program and that they are getting ready to harvest and sell their produce in the local market.

The said group are the beneficiaries of Department of Agriculture- Special Area for Agricultural Development of Kalinga (DA-SAAD) programs on coffee and fruit trees production aimed at providing farmers additional sources of income as well as improving food sufficiency in communities.


According to DA-SAAD Kalinga's press release on August 24, 2022, 10% of the Robusta coffee planted by the farmers group are now on the fruiting stage and are starting to harvest in October of the same year.


As recalled, the agency distributed 1,000 seedlings of Robusta coffee and fruit bearing trees such as Rambutan and Lanzones to 20 members of NamFA granting the request of the group in the year 2020.

The farmers group planted said Robusta seedlings in a 1.7 hectares plantation, while the seedlings of rambutan and lanzones were planted in a 2.5 hectares area.
