Tabuk City, Kalinga - While Governor Ferdinand Tubban and Provincial Health Officer Dr. Edward Tandingan are glad about the current Low Epidemic Risk Level of Kalinga, they both agree that that this should not be an excuse for the public to let their guard down.

The risk classification was based on the Community Quarantine Decision Matrix provided by the National Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID).

Kalinga has so far attained low two-week growth rate (2WGR) and medium average daily attack rate (ADAR).

“Ti COVID-19 situation tayo ket less critical ngem dapat nga on-guard tayo latta, we should not be complacent,” the governor underscored.

Meanwhile, Tandingan explained in an interview that being in the low risk level category signifies the slowing down of the epidemic, added that there will be lesser risk of contagion for those who want to come to Kalinga compared to areas with high epidemic risk level.

The virus is still out there

Tandingan further reminded the public to only go out when necessary, as the virus is still out there, waiting for those who are ‘willing a mang-akseptar.’

The governor and the Provincial Health Officer urge everyone to continue observing the health protocols like wearing of face mask as well as face shield when going out.

The available vaccine is the best

Tubban and Tandingan are likewise encouraging all eligible to take advantage of the vaccines available, as the latter calls for the public to get masterlisted.

The masterlist, he said would be the basis to determine the number of vaccines to be brought in the province.

“If we do not have a high number or masterlisted, di syempre basbassit diay bakuna nga umay,” Tandingan explained.

The Provincial Health Officer also asks the groups to be vaccinated to be alert because their turn will not be repeated once missed.

“Once the opportunity passes, it will be the others naman kasi unfair naman sa iba,” he said.
