Tanudan, Kalinga―The road opening of a major road network that would connect the Municipalities of Tanudan, Barlig and Banaue is underway with the PhP100 million worth concreting of initial 2.2-kilometer part of the National Road.

The 2.2-kilometer road improvement is just a portion of the supposed development of National Road from Lubo, Tanudan going to Barlig, Mountain Province and Banaue, Ifugao.

With a total funding of PhP100 million, Congressman Allen Jesse Mangaoang, thru the initiative of Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag, worked out for the allocation of fund which will be implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Phase 1 of the project

The Phase 1 amounting to PhP50million was funded in 2020, while the PhP50 million for the Phase II was budgeted in 2021. Both phases are simultaneously implemented this year.

Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag relates that the road was opened a few years back but was only lately funded by the national government thru the DPWH.

“Na-open dayta idi tyempo ni former Mayor Rhustom Dagadag ngem syempre i-open da manen ta nagaburan, additional work ngem ti main purpose diay pondo ket for concreting,” he narrated.

Dagadag added that the completion of road concreting seeks to promote fast and better access for the residents instead of passing through the Municipality of Tinglayan going to Mountain Province.

“Nu agtuluy-tuloy kuma pondo na from the national government ket adan tu dalan nga mapan Mt. Province nga ditoy Tanudan ti pagnaan ket as-asideg kuma,” he said.

The road improvement will benefit the residents of Barangays Babbanoy, Lower Lubo, Upper Lubo, Gaang and Dacalan in the prompt delivery of agricultural products and perishable goods, saving travel time and costs of transportation.

Meantime, Phase I and II of the project will initially cover the concreting of the road after the bridge of Dumanay and the road going to Barangay Lubo.

Road clearing, widening, and concreting are expected to be done by the end of 2021.
