‘Government service needs Godly intervention’ – Lubuagan Mayor Dickpus

Lubuagan, Kalinga – Mayor Charisma Anne Dickpus of the Municipality of Lubuagan in Kalinga Province underscores the significance of the Word of God in the day-to-day activities of workers in the government for better public service, following the culminating activity of the Bible Month Celebration.

The celebration is in consonance with the Philippine Presidential Proclamation No. 124 declaring January of every year as “National Bible Month” in recognition of the “religious nature of the Filipino people and the elevating influence of religion in human society.”

The activity in Lubuagan spearheaded by Dickpus was attended by the different ministers and preachers in the municipality: Reverend Louie Espino and Reverend Amiel Alvarez of the Catholic Church, Baptist Church Pastor Jovito Garcia, UCCP Pastor Jane Bentres, Pastor Virginia Kinobong of Free Believers in Christ Fellowship, and one of Lubuagan’s Peace Mediator Manuel Bacacao, in which Bacacao encouraged employees to have regular Bible reading and sharing.

In the Mayor's message to the employees, Dickpus related that Divine intervention plays an important role in the daily life of every worker, reminding government workers “to fight and resist wrongdoings” which others were not able to.

The mayor expressed that enlightenment from reading, studying, and sharing the words of God will help in better decision making, execution of the job they hold, as in staying away from temptations of corruption.

“Adu iti temptation ngem nu kanayon nga malaglagip tayo iti sursuro ni Apo, dakkel ti chance nga ag-resist ta adda ti buteng Kanyana,” she said.

This is also the reason why the LGU is conducting its own Bible sharing on Mondays to let employees recognize the virtues and teachings of the Holy Scripture and their application to day-to-day life.

“Same met laeng iti balbalay tayo, agkararag tayo, isuro tayo iti Sao Ni Apo kadagiti kapamilya, isuro tayo ti usto ken saan. So maymayat manen nu itugot tayo idiay pagtrabahuwan tayo,” Mayor Dickpus said.
