Tabuk City, Kalinga – With two additional persons of interest, a total of seven individuals are now being investigated by the police in connection with the killing of Irene Gayamos.

This was reported by Kalinga Provincial Police Office (KPPO) Director PCOL Gilbert Fati-ig during a joint meeting led by the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) on Monday, March 30, at Davidson Hotel in Bulanao, Tabuk City.

To recall, the 30-year-old Gayamos was killed on the afternoon of November 12, 2025, inside her home in Purok 6, Bulanao, Tabuk City.

The victim died from multiple stab wounds inflicted by still-unidentified individuals.

Following the brutal murder, “Task Force Irene” was formed to fast-track the investigation. A P500,000 reward was offered for the immediate identification and arrest of the perpetrators.

Fati-ig requested the monetary reward from the PPOC, chaired by Governor James S. Edduba. During a meeting on November 17, 2025, the council approved the funding.

Initially, five persons of interest were being looked into by the police, but Fati-ig revealed that two additional individuals have been added to the list, bringing the total to seven.

The police director said all investigators under Task Force Irene have been mobilized. According to him, the individuals under investigation belong to different groups but know each other.

“Natawagan po lahat ng investigators in regard to Task Force Irene. Noong last PPOC meeting, nasabi ko na may lima tayong persons of interest. But now, we have two additional persons of interest. Itong pitong PI natin ngayon, iba-iba sila ng grupo, pero magkakakilala sila,” reported Fati-ig.

“Medyo nahihirapan kami kasi magkakaiba yung mga statement nila sa ating mga investigators. Makita nga talaga nga aglaslastog da. However, we are trying our best to sustain our efforts,” he added.

As of this writing, the KPPO has yet to release further details as the in-depth investigation continues.

The public is urged to come forward with any information that may help resolve the case and bring justice to the victim.
