TABUK CITY, Kalinga – An Iranian national identified as Nejat Shakeri Fard has been arrested in Roxas, reportedly in connection with the theft of ₱50,000 in cash collections from a business establishment in Barangay Dagupan Centro, Tabuk City.

Dagupan Centro Barangay Captain George Esteras confirmed the arrest in an interview on the morning of November 6, 2026, saying he received information from the police that the suspect had been apprehended by the Roxas Municipal Police Station.

Esteras said CCTV footage he posted on November 3 helped authorities identify the suspect, who was reportedly seen using a black Toyota Wigo during the incident.

According to the barangay official, the suspect allegedly parked the vehicle near Double A along Mayangao Street before taking approximately ₱50,000 in cash collections from a business establishment and fleeing the area.

“Dayta identified diay pastor. 3 days ago.. dayuhan. Naamuak nga adda met lang standing warrants na ti sabali nga lugar. Ngem ti kuna ti imbestigasyon kaniak, Grupo da…,” Esteras said.

The police booking photograph identifies the suspect as Shakeri Fard, Nejat y NMN, and lists the offense as theft under Article 308 of the Revised Penal Code, under Case Control No. 26-2526, dated November 3, 2026.

Esteras said the incident highlights the importance of CCTV cameras in helping authorities investigate crimes and identify suspects.

However, he stressed the need to install more advanced surveillance cameras in strategic areas of Dagupan Centro, particularly near intersections, that can clearly capture vehicle plate numbers and facial images.

“Mapondoan koma pay ti face recognition and plate recognition iti crossing … ok pay lang met daytoy CCTV tayo, ngem mayat koma nu mastrike diay plate ken adda face recognition tapno maala nga sigurad,” Esteras explained.

The barangay captain also expressed concern over the reported involvement of a foreign national in the incident, saying the matter should not be taken lightly and should prompt greater vigilance in the community.
