Isabela Barangay Captain killed in a road crash

Isabela, Philippines – A barangay captain died on the spot when his motorcycle was hit by a four-wheel vehicle while he was crossing the intersection along the by-pass road in Sta Cruz, Alicia, this November 7.


Aniog Punong barangay, Gilbert Guillermo, 48, was said to have been declared dead on the spot by the attending physician when he was rushed to the hospital after the road mishap.


A report from the Police Regional Office 2, Regional Public Information Office revealed that Guillermo was driving his Yamaha Mio Soul 125 motorcycle when he allegedly collided with a Toyota Fortuner SUV driven by a certain Johnly Niño, 29.

The police report states that the SUV was traversing the south direction bound to Santiago City and failed to slow down when he reached the intersection. This then resulted in the collision with the motorcycle coming from its left side and crossing the intersection.


Due to the impact of the collision, Guillermo sustained fatal injuries that caused his death.


The suspect, along with the vehicles involved, was brought to Alicia Police Station. Niño will be facing charges for Reckless Imprudence Resulting in Homicide and Damage to Property.
