Isabela farmer stabbed twice due to missing slipper

Isabela, Philippines – A 46-year-old farmer was stabbed after he was accused of taking a slipper in Mallig, Isabela on January 8, 2023.


Joel Alvarez, a resident of Barangay Rang-ayan of the said town, was rushed by his relatives to the hospital after he sustained stab wounds by suspect Rodrigo Bonita, 48, Mallig police stated.

The investigation of the police showed that the suspect attended a birthday celebration with his son in Barangay Rang-ayan prior to the incident. The suspect consumed alcohol at the event.


Around 9:00 in the evening, however, Rodrigo and his son proceeded to the house of Alvarez. The two confronted the victim about a missing slipper which the latter denied taking.


Rodrigo fumed and allegedly attacked the victim, stabbing him twice before leaving the crime scene on their motorcycle.


The suspect was not able to get away as he was immediately arrested by the authorities through a hot pursuit operation. He was brought to the Mallig Police Station pending the filing of appropriate charges.
