"Kaimasan latta, karne ti pusa" - Brgy Casigayan Muse 2023

Tabuk City, Kalinga - Barangay Casigayan Sangguniang Kabataan delivers more fun and laughter during their search for Best Muse on Saturday, April 22, 2023.

Instead of the normal beauty pageant, Brgy. Casigayan decided to host a search for the Best Muse with a spice of humor to "entertain the audience because it is what we think we need in today's challenging world. Lalo at nagrerecover pa lang tayo sa pandemic. We need to laugh, no pressure, yung masaya lang," Pag-asa Youth Association(PYA)-Casigayan Chapter told Station 1 Radio correspondent Sherie Jovellanos.

Carol Buyagao of Purok Bougainvillea was declared as the Best Muse also garnering the awards: Darling of the Crowd and Best Introduction.

"Adu ti ammok a karne a masida. Adda dita ti karne ti baboy, karne ti kalding, karne ti bungsos kada karne ti baka. Ngem ti kaimasan latta ket karne ti pusa!" exclaimed Carol during her introduction which drew cheers and chuckles from the crowd.

In case you do not get the joke, Casigayan has always been stereotyped as cat meat eaters because allegedly pet cats in the area suddenly disappear without explanation and with no traces. Cat owners fear that cat meat-eating-people in the barangay (which some outsiders call Catsigayan) may have caught them for food consumption.

PYA President Chrizel Joy Orpilla said, despite the stereotype, the barangay just learns to live with it true or not. "Besides, we have many cat lovers and owners here that treat these pets like family. We are just a small community, alam namin ang pusa ng may pusa."

The said search is one of the barangay's SK Summer League 2023 program highlights. 6 contestants from Purok Bougainvillea, Santan, Rosas, Waterlily, Golden Bush, and San Vicente joined the search. No contestant for Purok Gumamela was available.
