Kalinga holds indignation rally to denounce CPP-NPA on their 53rd anniversary

Updated: Dec 27, 2021

Tabuk City, Kalinga — Even with the rain pouring, several representatives of government agencies, and some private individuals with the youth convened to stage an indignation rally to denounce the Communist Party of the Philippines – New People’s Army on their 53rd anniversary this December 26.

The group, headed by Department of Interior and Local Government Provincial Director Max Mayer Adong, held the rally at the Rotonda in Bulanao this morning to show the people that Kalinga does not support the ideologies of the CPP-NPA.

503rd Infantry Brigade Information Officer Captain Rogelio Agustin mentioned that the force of the leftist organization in Kalinga has been declining and that there are only a few of them moving in the province.

“Ammu mi nga sumagmamano kayo laengen, tumaray taray kayo nu sadino iti papapanan yu ket kakaasi iti panagbiyag yu, ket kakaasi piman dagiti pampamilya yu nga mangpanpanunut nu anya iti pagtungpalan yu,” he said.

As they celebrate their anniversary this December 26, Agustin called on the remaining rebels to surrender and have a peaceful life with the government, adding that the communities no longer want NPAs in their areas and that they are already the ones reporting to the military and police the presence of these groups in their locality.

“Sana ay mamulat na kayo sa maganda, hindi yung pinagpapatuloy niyo pa rin yung maling adhikain ninyo at maling paniniwala ninyo. At sana mag-join na kayo sa ating gobyerno,” he appealed.

Meantime, it could be recalled that a rebel was killed during an encounter with the government troops on November 14 in Bagtayan, Pasil.

Also, high-powered firearms which include 2 pieces of M16, a piece of M653 rifle, hand grenade, 3 improvised explosive devices, and other NPA belongings have been recovered after another clash between the AFP and rebels in Sitio Upper Tanap, Mabaca, Balbalan last December 12.
