Tabuk City, Kalinga – Kalinga, as cited by Governor James Edduba, is a province known for its geographical challenges. Thus, its residents must be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to mitigate the impact of disasters.

Disaster resilience is imperative, and leaders and officials of the local government units play a crucial role in achieving it such that the provincial head urged the LGUs to “prioritize disaster prevention and mitigation, invest in preparedness, respond with compassion and efficiency, and support the recovery and rehabilitation of affected communities.”

In the same manner, Edduba recognizes that the resilience of one person, one community, or one municipality contributes to the resilience of the whole province as “each action we take toward disaster resilience ripples through our society, strengthening our collective ability to withstand and recover from adversity.”

“I call upon every one of you to actively participate in this journey toward building a stronger and more disaster-resilient Kalinga province… Together, let us demonstrate the indomitable yKalinga spirit, united in pursuit of resilience and well-being, and forge a safer and more secure environment for ourselves and future generations,” he said.

Edduba made the remark in a message delivered by Vice – Gov. Jocel Baac during the launching of the National Disaster Resilient Month in the province which coincided with the provincial kick-off of the 36th Cordillera founding anniversary celebration and Nutrition Month.

The NDRR month is being observed with the theme, “BIDAng PILIPINO: Building a Stronger Filipino Well-being towards Disaster Resilience” which, according to the governor, underscores the importance of the four thematic areas - disaster prevention and mitigation, preparedness, response, and rehabilitation.
