La Trinidad eyes Guiness World Record for 'biggest vegetable salad'

La Trinidad, Benguet – Tagged as the salad bowl of the Philippines for being one of the main sources of fresh vegetables in the country, La Trinidad intends to elevate its title as it aims to snatch the biggest vegetable salad on the Guinness Book of World Records.

Mayor Romeo Salda said this plan would be implemented next year, as relayed by local media.

If able to get it, this would be the second title that would be bestowed by Guinness on Benguet’s capital town.

La Trinidad already snatched the biggest strawberry shortcake world title in 2004, which weighed 9,622.24 kilograms and fed over 10,000 people.

As they pursue said target, preparations, along with a huge amount of funding, Salda said, would be needed.

The plan, he added, would also need the cooperation of farmers and other stakeholders since they are the ones who will play the most crucial role in the attainment of said goal.

Along with it will be the conduct of research to determine if there is already a previous title holder of said world record.

At present, the municipality is celebrating its Vegetable Industry Week with the aim of recognizing vegetable farmers and promoting their vegetable produce.

The event is made possible with the collaboration of the town’s local government unit and the League of Associations of La Trinidad Vegetable Trading Post.
