Tanudan, Kalinga – From a Laga Fashion Show runway model to Tanudan queen, Aileen Joy Dalimag proved that determination is one of the keys to achieving someone’s aspirations.

Aileen, 18, was crowned Miss Tanudan 2023 on June 24 at Banagao, Poblacion. She was the youngest among the 13 beauties who vied for the most coveted tiara in the municipality.

Next to her is Tricia Gallamoy who was given the Miss Tourism title; Jolina Dawaton, Miss Environment; Ashley-ann Sumoldong, first runner-up; and Trixie Angela Ladwingon, second runner-up.

Fulfilling her promise to Anggacan

Being a daughter of a bridal boutique owner, Aileen is not new to ramping on stage as she’s a regular model in fashion events like the Laga show. She’s not just into the runway as she had also conquered barangay beauty pageants, winning Miss Anggacan in 2018.

With the title, she was supposed to represent her village in the Miss Tanudan last year but she had to delay her participation in the event as she had a prior commitment to the Matagoan Laga Fashion Show in 2022.

This year, she didn’t just fulfill her promise to carry their village’s name in the town’s pageant, she went beyond as she is set to bring the yTanudan’s wit and beauty in the Search for Miss Kalinga 2024.

“I did not expect to win the crown… my thoughts were I hope that I will just reach the top 5 knowing the capabilities of the other beautiful candidates,” she relayed in an interview.

Preparation

Aileen summarized her preparation in three words – discipline, dedication, and faith. She stressed that joining a pageant requires someone not to just be physically prepared but also to be mentally, spiritually, and financially ready.

“I can say that I am a self-driven person because whatever goal it is, I need to dedicate and pour my efforts in order for me to achieve it,” she added she clung to the Creator and her family as she battled uncertainties in her journey to the Miss Tanudan crown, recounting that her dark room was a witness to her struggle and how she picked herself up for her barangay and the people who believed in her.

‘Expect the best’

When asked what the yTanudans can look forward to from her, Aileen conveyed they can expect the best of her as she carries out her responsibilities as the new queen in town.

“Now that I am the newly crowned Miss Tanudan, expect the best of me on serving tha Ytanudan. I will try my very best to fulfill my duties and responsibilities. It may be hard but one thing I can say, I know that I can because the Ytanudan believed in me,” she expressed.
