Baguio City, Philippines - With a renewed mandate and firm resolve, re-elected Mayor Benjamin Magalong recently committed that the next three years under his leadership will be the “most impactful” for Baguio City, vowing to finish strong and leave behind lasting reforms that will shape the Summer Capital for generations to come.

Speaking during the city’s flag-raising ceremony last week, shared live by the city’s Information Office, Magalong described his final term as a final sprint toward making meaningful and permanent changes for the city.

Magalong said his last term of leading the city will not just be for continuing programs for the sake of finishing them but rather to make sure that everything his administration started, including improvements in governance, infrastructure, social

services, and urban planning, will continue even after his term.

“This last term is not about slowing down; it is about finishing strong…it is about ensuring that the reforms we began are sustained, that the systems we built are institutionalized, and that our vision for a progressive, inclusive, and resilient Baguio becomes irreversible,” said Magalong.

With his vision set on a progressive and resilient Baguio, Magalong then called all city department heads and employees to walk with him once again and help him push through projects and programs they began together.

“ Let us move forward with renewed purpose, deeper unity, and unwavering integrity. Together, let us make these next three years our most impactful yet for the city we love and for the people we serve,” he added.

Magalong is widely known for his brand of leadership rooted in good governance, discipline, and data-driven decision-making. Since he became the mayor of Baguio on June 30, 2019, he has been consistent in pushing for transparency, anti-corruption efforts, urban renewal, digital transformation, and more.

Under his administration, Baguio launched P2oo million Smart City Command Center in 2021. The center improves the city’s traffic management, safety and security, lighting, waste management, and improved disaster/emergency response, among others.

Recently, Baguio was recognized as the 7th safest city in the Philippines for tourists due to the local government’s initiatives in terms of safety, infrastructure, cost, and tourism readiness, as cited by the World Travel Index (WTI) who conferred the recognition.
