Lubuagan, Kalinga―The Municipal Government of Lubuagan recorded 30 cases of Covid-19 infection from the Aggressive Community Testing (ACT) conducted on February 24-25, 2021, a positivity rate of 3.77% from the 795 residents swabbed.

According to Municipal Health Officer Dr. Caroline Agyao, there were 795 residents who availed of the two-day free RT-PCR testing held at Lubuagan Eco-Tourism and Cultural Center, Bacao Elementary School, and barangay health stations (BHS).

Agyao said of the 30 positive cases, 10 are symptomatic, 2 were already transferred and being managed at the Kalinga District Hospital while the rest are under strict home quarantine.

“Madi da kayat nga mapan pero diyay duwa inpan min i-tattay. But before that gamin ket naikkan min dagiyay daduma ti agas isu haan da unay nagka symptoms,” she said.

She mentioned that the low positivity rate was expected since most of the individuals swabbed were not primary contacts of Covid-19 positive patients.

“Awan dagiyay immay ket talaga nga haan nga incontact talaga dagiyay, awan ketdi contact da. Haan da nga nirumrumwar dagitoy iti naswab mi ken taga LGU lang iti naswab ken barangay officials, dagiyay lang pero the community diyay iti narigatan kami,” she explained.

9 barangays of the municipality were able to join the ACT, except for Barangay Tanglag.

There was no specimen collected from Barangay Tanglag as residents refused to undergo said testing. Meantime, Barangay Mabongtot’s specimens were discarded since the collected swab samples were stored in a car and exposed to too much heat which invalidates results.

“Mabongtot nga 51 actually daytoy, considered as discard daytoy eh ta diay specimen da ngay ket nanagyan ngay idiay napudot nga lugan and then haan ngamin nga umabot diay day 1 so malemen nga nakasangpet dagidiay nagswab ta local swabbers sunga the following day paylang. Invalid nga talaga ta nagpudot diay lugan nga nanagyanan na,” she said.

As of March 01, there is a total of 187 CoViD-19 cases recorded in the municipality, 99 are active cases, 87 have already recovered, and 1 recorded death.
