Magsaysay, Tabuk City sustains monthly clean up drive

Magsaysay, Tabuk City – To maintain its clean and green environment and at the same time avert the worst impact of natural disasters, Barangay Magsaysay in Tabuk City, Kalinga, has been conducting its monthly clean-up drive.

Back in 2018, Barangay Magsaysay, under the leadership of Punong Barangay Enrique Sagayo, was recognized as among the regional winners of the cleanest and greenest barangay in Cordillera. The village was conferred a P200,000 cash grant for its achievement.

On November 10 and 11, the clean-up drive was carried out by the barangay council, tanods, and Barangay Human Rights Action Office, as relayed by Sagayo. They cleaned along the Provincial Road, including the canal.

The activity, according to Sagayo, helps in mitigating the adverse impact of heavy downpours that may lead to flooding.

“Bassit lang nga tudo, problema iti layos ngem nu nadalus iti canal, uray napigsa ti tudo, umapaw man ti danum ngem in-inut met laeng nga pumanaw (agayos) ti danum,” said the punong barangay.

He took to social media to thank the responsible barangay officials who took part in the said monthly drive.

Sagayo encouraged the community to also do their part by ensuring cleanliness in their respective areas.
