Man who posed as woman to extort victims thru chat arrested in Tuguegarao City

Tuguegarao City, Cagayan - A 19-year-old man, who allegedly posed as a woman in online chats to extort his male victims, was apprehended in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.

According to police reports, the accused, identified as alias "Sheena," utilized a troll Facebook account to target men capable of paying him.

The suspect reportedly sent explicit photos without revealing his face and avoided video calls until the victims were coerced into sending nude pictures as well.

One of his victims, aged 19, reported him on Thursday, February 1, 2024. The victim informed the police that the suspect demanded P10,000 to prevent the dissemination of his sensitive pictures.

Upon learning of the situation, the victim promptly informed his father, who then reported the matter to the authorities. In response, the police organized an entrapment operation.

 As part of the process, the victim sent money to the suspect via Gcash to trace him.

Upon tracking, it was revealed that the suspect had withdrawn the money from a store. The suspect was apprehended when the police arrived at the location.

Initially denying the allegations, the suspect later admitted guilt when confronted by the victim during a messenger call, confirming that he was the one making threats and demanding money.

The suspect is now in police custody and will be facing charges for violating Republic Act 10175, known as the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, and the Voyeurism Act.
