Isabela, Philippines – A mentally unstable man armed with a bolo ran amok at Rizal Avenue in Cauayan City this morning of July 25, 2022.

In a video posted by 98.5 iFM Cauayan, the man was carrying a bolo he took from a coconut vendor, refusing to surrender to authorities trying to pacify him.

The man even hacked the tree beside him when Ret. Colonel Pilarito 'Pitok' Malillin, the Chief of the Public Order and Safety Division in Cauayan, told him to let go of the bolo.

Malilin had to fire warning shots that eventually made the man throw the bolo to the ground.

The man was taken by the POSD and will be turned over to a mental hospital in Tuguegarao City.

This is not the first time the said man caused trouble on the streets.

Malilin emphasized he didn’t intend to harm nor shoot the person when he fired the warning shot.
