Tabuk City, Kalinga – Engineer Leonardo Lamangen, the new manager of Irrigation Management Office Division of NIA- Kalinga, plans to irrigate 3,000 hectares more in the province and in Quezon, Isabela.

Lamangen assumed post after the turn-over of leadership from Engr. Ferdinand Indammog at the NIA ground in Bulanao on March 10, 2022.

When asked about his plans as the new Division Manager, Lamangen disclosed they will be visiting far-flung areas to assess the unirrigated farmlands.

“Actually, our target service area is 16,000 plus. We are only just irrigating at this present, 13,000. So, we still have 3,000 more nga apan tayo kitan nga ipa-irrigate-an,” he said.

Additionally, Lamangen mentioned that NIA – Kalinga will work on the automation of the National Irrigation System, which will pave the way for better services to the public as this will modernize the operation of the system without or with little manual interventions.

Lamangen, a native of Bontoc, had previously served NIA – Kalinga as the Acting Division Manager from October 2020 until September 2021 before he went to the regional office and returned as the Division Manager in the province this March 10.

Meanwhile, Regional Manager Engr. Benito Espique, Jr. commended the leadership of Engr. Indammog, who served as the Officer-in-Charge for NIA-Kalinga for 3 months. Espique Jr. also expressed confidence in the leadership of Lamangen.

“So ammuk nga agtinnulong kayo a mangpapintas pay iti opisina and also the accomplishments iti Kalinga IMO. So, I hope nga with the leadership of Engr. Lamangen ken Engr. Ferdie Indammog [who is next in line], I know datayo a NIA family ditoy, I know a supportaran yu ta para kanya tayo met lang ta dakkel iti responsibility iti agyan ditoy Kalinga,” he said.
