Tabuk City, Kalinga – During the celebration of Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipina (KALIPI) Provincial Women’s Month on Tuesday, March 08, 2022 in Tabuk City Kalinga, the Regional Director of the Commission on Human Rights – Cordillera (CHR-CAR), Romel Daguimol called for leaders in the province to give importance to the women’s agenda in the locality as well as in the national level.

This, according to Daguimol, is due to the fact that without the efforts and contributions of women, progress cannot be achieved.

In his message during the program held at Davidson Hotel, Tabuk City, the Regional Director underlined the vital role of women, serving as the ’light’ not just at their own homes but to their communities and the nation as a whole.

Also, Daguimol reiterated the fight ‘as to the equality of rights among women and men, which was seen as a struggle for quite some time now.’ Nevertheless, Daguimol acknowledged the results of laws such as Violence Against Women and Children.

Said laws enable the protection of women and children, especially the marginalized and vulnerable.

The Regional Director asked the women to continue in pursuit of their dreams.

Hoping to inspire the women in the province, Daguimol shared that their office recently received a letter indicating that the former Cordillera Regional Director of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Janet Armas, is appointed as DSWD Assistant Secretary.

This, he added, only proves that like men, women are achievers.

Along with Daguimol, Focal Person on Women Welfare Program, Atty. Mabelyn A. Palukpok and CHR-Cordillera Information Officer II, Charmaine Joy Batong-Ambros, graced the event, sharing lectures on women’s rights, programs, and services that they may take advantage of.

Governor Ferdinand Tubban and his wife Dr. Ana Lua Tubban, a Women's Right Advocate, likewise joined the celebration.
