Tinglayan, Kalinga – Over 20 million pesos worth of suspected Marijuana was left at the side of the national road in Sitio Iyukan in Barangay Mallango, Tinglayan this January 21.

A total of 172 pieces of marijuana bricks and tubular worth P20,640,000 were recovered by the Kalinga police placed inside 5 sacks that were abandoned at said place.

In an interview with Tinglayan Chief of Police, Police Captain Luis Bulao Jr., he disclosed that the police in Tinglayan, Lubuagan, 2nd Kalinga Provincial Mobile Force Company, and Tabuk established checkpoints around 12 midnight this January 20, while the intelligence and drug enforcement unit in Kalinga had intensified information gathering and monitoring of areas of responsibility.

This was done after the police received information that unidentified people coming from Tinglayan were allegedly ferrying marijuana bound to nearby provinces.

At 8:00 AM this January 21, a call from a concerned citizen led to the discovery of 5 sacks with visible Marijuana bricks near the national road in Barangay Mallango.

All the sacks were opened containing the 158 bricks and 14 tubular suspected Marijuana.

Bulao said this is one of the biggest numbers of suspected dried Marijuana that were recovered during police response in Tinglayan.

After the on-site inventory, the contrabands were brought to the Kalinga Crime Laboratory for examination.
