P3.5M distributed to aid 1,173 Indigent pensioners in Lubuagan

Lubuagan, Kalinga-The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DWSD) has distributed P3,000 each to 1,173 Indigent senior citizens of Lubuagan as government assistance in accordance with the National Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010 or the Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens Program.


The payout was given to the elders who are lacking, for them to be able to augment the basic necessities of life, such as food and other medical needs.


According to Project Development Officer I April Rose Soliaban, the said amount was a stipend from the P500 per month pension as stated from the Republic Act 9994.

She said,"We continuously encourage the senior citizen nga usaren daytuy nga pension da for the benefit dagiti bagbagi da hindi yung apan da isugal or igatang ti arak or anya man dayta nga bisyo.”


Soliaban disclosed that the beneficiaries of this social pension are senior citizens aged 60 years and above that have no pension, no permanent source of income, compensation, support, or financial assistance from their relatives and the elders who are frail, sickly, or with disability.


The pensioners were enlisted and all assessed by their Municipal LGU then was endorsed by their MSWD office for a consultation at the DSWD office for qualification.

Of the 1173 senior citizen-beneficiaries in the municipality; 149 are from Barangay Antonio Canao, 193 from Dangoy, 88 from Lower Uma, 194 from Mabilong, 79 from Mabungtot, 186 from Poblacion, 75 from Tanglag, 100 from Uma del norte and 92 from Upper Uma.


The distribution of payout was made possible with the help of the Municipal LGU, the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office, 2nd Kalinga Police Mobile Force Company, and the DSWD officers on September 22 to 24, 2021 at the halls of the respective barangays.


Meantime, Lubuagan Mayor Charisma Anne Dickpus underscored the need to help members of the community, especially those in need. With the various programs of the government, she said eligible beneficiaries should avail.

The mayor also lauded the cooperation and the joint work of the agencies and offices, which made the event possible.


"Agayaman tayo iti DSWD ken dagiti trabahadores ti gobyerno local tayo tapno maidanun ti tulong kadagiti agkasapulan. Nu eligible tayo, ag-avail tayo tapno uray bassit adda latta maitulong na dagiti programa ti Gobyerno," said Dickpus.
