PNP remits P6.1B income tax in 2020

Updated: Apr 16, 2021

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The Philippine National Police contributed around 6 billion pesos for the government coffers for paid income tax in 2020.

In a Facebook post, the PNP said a total of P6,108,152,968.49 was remitted to the Bureau of Internal Revenue last year. This came from the individual income taxes of the 224,289 uniformed and non uniformed personnel across the country.

Additionally, on the said year, an average of P27,245 was paid by each personnel.

“All PNP personnel religiously fulfilled our annual tax obligations to fund government expenditure for healthcare services, public education, infrastructure development, food security, social services and defense,” said by Chief PNP Gen. Debold Sinas.

Meantime, in the form of taxes withheld, the income tax of every personnel is automatically deducted from the monthly salary. The withheld taxes are then remitted by the PNP to BIR.

The basic pay for a patrolman is P29,668, this is 100% higher than that of the salary of Police officer 1 before the year 2018.
