Baguio City, Philippines – A recent video circulating online, showing a Public Order and Safety Division(POSD) enforcer allegedly holding a cutter or a knife while dealing with defiant public utility jeepney driver, is now being investigated, says the POSD.

In a Facebook post, the POSD stated that they do not condone the incident, which happened at Magsaysay Ave., Slaughter Compound in Barangay Sto. Nio on April 27, should it be proven true.

In a statement, the POSD is quoted saying: “We do not condone such actions should it be proven true. Violence or threatening acts have no place in public service regardless if a violator is provocative or hostile.”

The POSD relates that on April 27 an initial investigation was conducted where the driver and the involved POSD enforcers appeared at Station 2. The driver, based on the report, admitted his violation, but subsequently both parties reconciled.

Nevertheless, the POSD stated in their post that regardless of the agreement, the investigation on the allegation that one of the enforcers brought out a cutter or a knife as a response to the incident shall continue.

The Baguio City Police Office 2 was also asked to to conduct a parallel investigation on the matter.

“This is to show our commitment to truly ridding our office of erring and unprofessional enforcers. As of yesterday, the enforcer involved is under preventive suspension,” the POSD underscored.

“Our message to the public is that, in cases where you wish to contest or complain about an apprehension or conduct of any member of our office, we are always ready to hear you. Let's not our emotions get the better of us. And this message is equally applicable to all public servants,” the POSD added.
