Ready to Sew? PSWDO-Kalinga invites Men, Women to enroll in 45-Day Basic Sewing Training

TABUK CITY, KALINGA — Want to learn a practical skill that could open doors to employment or livelihood opportunities?

The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO)-Kalinga is inviting interested men and women to enroll in its 45-day Basic Sewing Craft Training, designed to equip participants with practical sewing skills they can potentially use for employment, self-employment and livelihood activities.

The training is offered under the Productivity Skills and Capability Building Center (PSCB) Operations, a skills development program that seeks to enhance participants’ capabilities through practical and hands-on training.

Classes will be held on weekdays, Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The training will begin once the required number of participants has been reached.

To support hands-on learning, sewing materials will be provided to each trainee throughout the training period.

The program will introduce participants to basic sewing techniques while giving them a skill they can apply beyond the classroom.

After completing the training, participants may use their skills to seek sewing-related employment, accept small sewing projects, make garments and other sewn products, or explore starting their own livelihood activity.

The training may also help participants build confidence and independence by developing a marketable skill that can provide additional options for generating income and supporting their families.

The PSCB program was devolved to the Provincial Government of Kalinga in 2003 through a Memorandum of Agreement between the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Cordillera Administrative Region (DSWD-CAR) and the Provincial Government of Kalinga.

Through the continued implementation of the program, PSWDO-Kalinga is providing residents with opportunities to acquire practical skills that can serve as a foundation for future employment and livelihood ventures.
