Religious sector in Tinglayan initiates fun run for peaceful, honest election

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Four days before the May 9 National and Local polls, 116 yTinglayan participated in a fun run initiated by the Presbyterian Church led by Pastor Clemente Pagtan, Sr., on Thursday, May 5, 2022.


The activity, according to Municipal Information Officer Larae Lactao aimed to promote awareness of honest, orderly, and peaceful elections. Participants include the youth sector, men and women groups, the Local Government of Tinglayan employees and personnel of Tinglayan Municipal Police Station, and the Bureau of Fire Protection-Tinglayan.

Lactao said the participants started the fun run from Barangay Danglis and later assembled at the Tinglayan municipal gym.


Apart from said activity, political aspirants in Tinglayan had an earlier walk to manifest unity and interfaith for a peaceful, secure, accurate, free and fair campaign and election period this year.

All candidates vying for political positions which include those running for the mayoral seat, vice mayor, and councilors during the unity walk pledge and sign the Commission on Elections (COMELEC’s) “Integrity Pledge.”


In their pledge, candidates vowed to make transparent the use of any coordinate network to disseminate, avoid using such networks to attack opponents, take active steps to maintain good cyber-hygiene, avoid coordinating proxies or fake accounts and ensure transparency in the source of campaign financing to ensure public trust in the electoral process.

“All these, we/I commit and subscribe to, freely and voluntary, with no purpose of evasion, fully accountable to the Filipino people as our/my witness,” the candidates pledged.
