Tabuk City, Kalinga – The Kalinga Police Provincial Office is appealing to the public to help keep peace during the election process as they encouraged the immediate reporting of individuals carrying firearms outside their residence during the filing of Certificates of Candidacy this October 1 to 8.

This is after the Philippine National Police has suspended the permit to carry firearms outside residence in the country within the duration of COC filing for the May 9 national and local elections.

During the suspension, only members of the Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, and other law enforcement agencies who are on official duty will be allowed to carry their firearms.

In line with this, Kalinga Police Director, Police Colonel Davy Vicente Limmong reminds the constituents and the responsible gun owners to follow the directives in order to ensure the safety of the public.

He likewise appealed to the people to immediately call the attention of the police should they see individuals violating the gun ban to deter any possible violence that may arise.

“Any violators should be reported to us immediately para maiwasan ang possible na problema. Ito ay parte ng Comelec guidelines para maiwasan ang possible violence lalo na sa mga supporters ng ating mga candidate ng national at local election,” he said.
