Rider dies in Tabuk road crash

Tabuk City, Kalinga – A rider from Barangay Cabaruan died after a head on collision with an ambulance on Thursday evening, April 14, 2022 at the Provincial Road in Sitio Sawang, Balong.


The rider driving a Rusi motorcycle which was heading towards the northern direction of the road was severely injured after crashing with a private hospital ambulance which was going towards the opposite direction, the Tabuk City Police Station reported.

Rescuers rushed the rider to the hospital but he was declared dead on arrival.


Initial investigation of the police also revealed that the ambulance driver who is a resident of La Trinidad, Benguet allegedly tried to leave the place of incident, but he was chased by the barangay officials of Balong.

The driver stopped at approximately 500 meters away from the collision site. Also, during the inquiry, the driver was said to have admitted that he was intoxicated when the incident happened.


The ambulance driver was brought to the custody of the Tabuk City Police Station including the two involved vehicles.

Names of the involved individuals have been withheld by the police as investigation of the case progresses.


Meantime, on the same evening of Maundy Thursday, a tricycle driver had a self-inflicted accident in Sitio Tulyao, Calanan. He was rushed to the hospital and is now under observation.
