SLU alumna crowned Miss Model Search International 2023

Baguio City, Philippines – A talented graduate of Saint Louis University in Baguio City was crowned as the Miss Model Search International 2023 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam earlier this month.

Proud Baguio girl Maria Jonah Divina Bajum Draculan, known to many as “Ponay” likewise won Best in Talent and Top 3 in Swimwear competition, informed the Religate.

Draculan is a global social media strategist, accountant, and is working as a freelance business and investment consultant and insurance agent at the FWD Matternhorn in Manila.

Also, she is a contemporary dancer, an actress, and is part of the Binnadang Cultural Dance Troupe.

The now international model confessed it was not easy for her to choose the modeling path. She had to sacrifice a lot and endure the betrayal and backstabbing of those who used to be close to her.

“And yes, frustrated Artist, Model, Dancer, and Writer ako. And biggest mistake? Nakinig ako sa kanila, I gave up and told myself "okay na yun, nakapag-perform ka naman na, at least na-try mo baka nga hindi para sayo talaga, makakalimutan mo na din yan lahat,’’ she expressed.

She struggled for some time until she was referred to a workshop that changed her fate. She gained knowledge and wisdom that guided her to win her international title.

Draculan now holds on to her “2023 mantra” that ‘the impossible is the new possible’ and ‘fear doesn’t shut you down, it wakes you up.’

She constantly reminds herself to always possess MAD (Mindset, Attraction, Determination).

The model extended her gratitude to those who supported her throughout their journey.
