STEPSON STABS STEPFATHER in Cauayan: 38-year-old suspect captured after attempting to escape

SANTIAGO CITY, Isabela — A drinking session between a 38-year-old man and his 56-year-old stepfather turned violent after an argument, resulting in the latter being allegedly stabbed in Barangay District 2, Cauayan City, Isabela, on August 30, 2026.

According to the Cauayan Component City Police Station (Cauayan CCPS), the victim and suspect were drinking alcohol at their residence when an argument broke out.

Initial police investigation showed that the victim was reportedly about to confront another person when the suspect and his mother tried to stop him.

The situation reportedly escalated after the suspect became upset over something the victim said and allegedly punched his stepfather.

The argument then turned physical, eventually leading to the suspect allegedly stabbing the 56-year-old victim.

The victim was immediately taken to a hospital for medical treatment.

The suspect reportedly fled the area after the incident but was later tracked down through a hot pursuit operation.

Police eventually located and arrested the 38-year-old suspect and brought him to the Cauayan CCPS for documentation and proper disposition.

Authorities are preparing the appropriate charges against the suspect in connection with the stabbing.

Police continue to remind the public to avoid excessive drinking and to settle disputes peacefully, as arguments fueled by alcohol can quickly escalate into violence.
