Tanudan, Kalinga - Tanudan’s reigning Miss Laggunawa Jaden Fate Sallida has one advice to the next title holder, ‘be a good role model’.

Jaden, who won the title in 2018, will be crowning the Miss Laggunawa 2022 on June 24 at the Open Gym of Mabaca Elementary School.

The beauty queen shared that the Miss Laggunawa title is a huge responsibility as people look up to the one wearing the crown.

With this, she encouraged the next beauty to set some examples worthy of emulation.

“Ken diay mangabak, talaga nga serbian na kuma daytoy community tayo nga nu adda dagitoy adda agkailangan, dapat adda isuna a tumulong. Be active, karkaru kadagitoy panggep iti activities iti youth ta importante dagitoy karkaru tatta,” she added.

Jaden likewise told 14 official candidates of this year’s search to stay confident in their life pursuits, ignore detrimental feedback, and be strong, as challenges are part of the journey of becoming a beauty queen.

“Kayat ko lang nga ibaga ken dagitoy candidates ngay nga to believe in their self more. Nu adda man negative nga ibagbaga iti tattao ken criticisms ket baybay an da lattan, haan dan patpatulan. Haan talaga nga maiwasan iti kakasdiay, isu nga para kanyak aramiden da latta nga aramiden iti best da tapos ni God met lang iti mang-bless kadakuada,” she expressed.

Changes Jaden underwent as a beauty queen

Jaden recounted her being an introvert and her suffering from social anxiety when she was not yet a title holder of the Miss Laggunawa.

She said she was even afraid to ride in public utility vehicles as people, she thought, seemed to look at her with unfavorable judgement.

Jaden also admitted falling into depression when she was studying in Baguio City.

Somehow, when she joined the Search for Miss Laggunawa in 2018 after her mother persuaded her to come home, things started to change.

Joining the pageant, she said, helped her relax around people, allowing her to be more sociable.

“Idi nangabak nak, na-realize ko nagdakkel gayam nga responsibility iti agiggem iti crown. Ma-push ka talaga to the limit, haan lang nga basta basta iti agiggem iti crown ken sash,” she expressed.

After winning the Miss Laggunawa crown, Jaden represented Tanudan for the Search for Miss Kalinga in 2019, placing third.
