MANILA — Motorists may face another increase at the pump next week, with diesel prices projected to rise by ₱4.50 to ₱5 per liter and gasoline by ₱4 to ₱4.50 per liter, according to Jetti Petroleum.

Jetti Petroleum president Leo Bellas said the projected increase is being driven by higher international oil prices following renewed hostilities between the United States and Iran and concerns over possible disruptions to oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz, a major route for global energy shipments.

The estimate is based on movements in the Mean of Platts Singapore (MOPS) and foreign exchange rates during the first four trading days. The final adjustment may still change depending on the remaining trading-day results.

Bellas also pointed to tightening global diesel inventories and refinery disruptions as additional factors putting upward pressure on fuel prices. Reduced flows through the Strait of Hormuz and continuing attacks on Russian energy infrastructure have further heightened supply concerns.

For gasoline, Jetti said prices remain supported by low inventories and steady demand, while uncertainty over fuel supply in Asia continues to add pressure.

The possible hike follows a recent rollback in local pump prices, when diesel and kerosene prices fell by nearly ₱4 per liter, while gasoline declined by about ₱0.30 per liter.

The Department of Energy is expected to announce the actual fuel price adjustments after the completion of the week's trading.
