Tinglayan employs 46 students, out-of-school youth this summer

Tinglayan, Kalinga – 46 underprivileged in and out-of-school youths of Tinglayan will now be helped with their education financials as they will be getting temporary jobs starting next month through the Special Program for Employment of Students and Out-of-school Youth.


Said youngsters were gathered Monday, June 26, at the Sangguniang Bayan Session Hall for a job orientation in order to familiarize them with their assigned tasks and the procedures to be followed while they are temporary employees of the local government of Tinglayan

In a press release, the local government unit said that in relation to the ‘Pumor-asan Program’ of Tinglayan, SPES recipients will be assigned to the ‘closing of open dumping sites, construction of makeshift barangay MRFs, recycling, beautification, and innovation to minimize solid wastes’ in the locality.


This, according to the LGU, is also the directive of Mayor Sacrament Gumilab.


After a 20-day work, recipients will be getting a total of P392, 591.6 as their wages. Each will receive P8, 534.6, LGU Tinglayan said.

The wages of the recipients are funded by the Department of Labor and Employment and LGU Tinglayan.


In a statement, Gumilab advised the youngsters to value the earnings they will be receiving through the program and to utilize it in its prescribed purpose – pursuance of their studies.


“Sapay kuma ta daytuy nga programa ket makatulong iti panagadal da ta para met lang daytuy iti future da ken tapnu haan masayang ti oportunidad nga it-ited iti gobyerno kanyada,” Gumilab said.
