TINGLAYAN, Kalinga — The Municipality of Tinglayan has expressed its appreciation to the Municipality of Balbalan for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to visiting government employees during the opening of the 2026 Governor’s Cup on September 4.

The Governor’s Cup is part of the month-long celebration of the 126th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary (PCSA) with the theme, “126th: Puso, Dangal, at Galing Para sa Bayan.” The event features basketball and volleyball matches among public servants representing their respective local government units and clusters.

Balbalan, led by Mayor Almar Paganao Malannag, hosted the opening games, opening its courts and facilities to government employees from across the province.

Among the opening-day matches were the basketball and volleyball games between Tinglayan and Tanudan, with Tanudan winning both matches.

Beyond the games, Tinglayan said the activity provided an opportunity for government employees from different parts of Kalinga to strengthen fellowship and camaraderie.

“The LGU Tinglayan extends its appreciation to LGU Balbalan, led by Mayor Almar Paganao Malannag, for the warm hospitality and successful hosting of the activity. Thank you so much, LGU Balbalan, for bringing Kalinga’s public servants together through sports, fellowship, and camaraderie,” the Tinglayan LGU said.

Tinglayan also congratulated Tanudan for its victories in the opening matches.

More basketball and volleyball matches are scheduled throughout September as the Governor’s Cup continues its province-wide celebration of sportsmanship, teamwork and camaraderie among Kalinga’s public servants.
