To’wing Waterfalls in Sablan, Benguet reopens to public

Sablan, Benguet – After a two-year closure, the To’wing Waterfalls is finally reopened to the public through a ceremonial opening on Thursday, December 1, with a goal of boosting the tourism industry of the municipality.

With this, local and international tourists can now visit and enjoy the spectacular natural wonder located in Barangay Lower Poblacion, according to Mayor Alfredo Dacumos of Sablan, Benguet.


The reopening of said site is expected to help in the economic development of the municipality.

“Makakatulong po ito sa economic lalo na kung dadami ang mga bakasyunista, mga local and foreign tourist na papasyal dito, at least makabenta ng products,” Dacumos said in an interview by Mt. Province Broadcasting Corporation.


The mayor mentioned that aside from swimming, tourists can also enjoy trekking while visiting the place as they need to walk along the 488 steps, a man-made pathway consisting of concrete and iron stairs in order to reach the area.


The waterfalls is accessible by hiking from the municipal hall of the municipality.


He added boating will be considered as one of the activities to be offered once boats will be made available.

For the safety of visitors, some rescuers were already trained in first aid and search and rescue by the local government through the Municipal Risk and Reduction Management Office.


At present, going to the waterfalls is still free as implementing rules and regulations are being prepared.
